Softball Camp
This high energy softball camp is perfect for girls of all abilities. Learn skills of the game with fun and interactive teaching stations from the coaching staff of one of Baltimore County’s top teams. With a low camper to staff ratio, every camper can get the personalized attention needed to focus on their specific needs and significantly improve their softball skills and overall performance. And we're not just about softball! Campers will engage in plenty of non-softball related games and high-jinks to keep the smiles and laughs going all week long.
FSC softball camp distinguishes itself through the superior group and individual training that we offer. You won’t get stuck with tired drills as situational work and scrimmages will be incorporated.
Our energetic staff will help you improve in skill areas that include:
- Batting skills like stance improvement, bunting and hitting for power off of both batting machines and live pitching
- Fielding skills for infield and outfield defense include catching pop flies, groundballs, pickles, outfield throws and positioning, and performing relay throws and infield positioning
- Base-running skills that include stealing, pickles and tagging up
Instruction will be led by 2023 Maryland State Runners-up, Dulaney High School Varsity Head Coach Dave Barwick and Varsity Assistant Coach Tom Melito, with visits from current members of the Dulaney High School softball program.
We will give your girls the opportunity to play softball daily, gain self-confidence in their game, and make new friends. By the end of the session, players will have received valuable knowledge about the game of softball and will have thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the process! We hope you’ll play some softball with us at Free State Camps this summer.

Camps
Session One
- Dates: July 7 - 11, 2025
- Ages: rising grades 3 - 9
- All abilities welcome
Session Two
- Dates: July 14 - 18, 2025
- Ages: rising grades 5 - 9
- Advanced abilities only
Applicable to Both Sessions
- Location: Dulaney High School varsity softball field near Treherne Road
- Gender: female
- Times: 9am - 12pm
- Cost: $175 per participant
- Discounts:
- Multiweek Discount - save $20 (will be applied only for Session Two after registering for both sessions)
- Crossbar fees cannot be reimbursed in case of camp registration cancellation.
- Please note that camp registration money will not be refunded within 7 days of start of camps.
Equipment
- softball glove (required)
- batting helmet (required)
- face mask (optional)
- catchers should bring catcher gear
- bat (will be provided if needed)
- outdoor (cleats) AND indoor (sneakers) shoes (in case of rain)
- athletic shorts or softball pants
- water bottle(s)
- sunscreen applied at home
- on the Thursday of each camp it is recommended to bring swim wear and a towel (optional: water shoes)
- on the Friday of Session One it is requested that each camper bring a Sharpie-like marker

Camp registration for our Softball Camp Session 1 will be opening in spring 2025 upon approval by BCPS for field usage permits but please check out our “Tentative 2025 Camp Schedules” page to pencil in your FSC Summer Camp on your calendar!
